Assam Supports ‘Swachh Bharat’ Campaign launched by PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used a broom to launch his new campaign ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission, which is a cleanliness drive across India, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. This campaign is run by the Central Government with a mission to clean India and make it a better as well as healthier place to live. It is a massive project to clean the entire nation and it is the responsibility of every citizen to take part in this campaign. Many well-known industrialist and celebrities have joined the campaign and they have also picked up a broom to clean their respective localities.

Assam, tucked in the North-Eastern corner of India has also taken part in this ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission. The Chief Minister of the state recently, took a broom and launched a far-reaching ‘Clean Assam’ campaign in the city of Guwahati. He announced that Government would constitute a Green Brigade and permanent committees to keep the localities neat and clean and awards will be given to the cleanest locality. A similar drive was started in Guwahati some two years back but it did not work. However, he hopes that this time the campaign works and this drive will be a continuous process.

Welcoming the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM of Assam, Mr. Gogoi said that he has full support for this cause and would soon start the campaign in all educational institutions, government offices and public institutions in phases. He has already initiated the campaign in Assam by taking the broom along with his ministers, MLA’s and Senior Government officials. Now, it is the duty of every citizen of Assam to realize the importance of having a clean and green Assam. Government alone cannot achieve the goal of keeping the state clean and it is the responsibility of every citizen to help the Government in achieving the results. You can do this by keeping your localities clean. Stop throwing garbage on the roads and outside the common municipal dustbins. By doing so, you can not only keep your city clean but also live a much healthier life. We, the people of Assam should pledge together and make this clean Assam campaign a grand success.
