Assam is changing with India

Assam, the most beautiful state situated in the North-Eastern corner of India on the littoral of the mighty Brahmaputra River is well-known for its rich biodiversity. It is the entry-point to 6 other North-eastern states and is also the commercial as well as educational hub of the region. The state has witnessed a lot of ups and downs and today, it is counted amongst one of the developing states of India. The state has faced a number of issues such as insurgency, illegal immigration, flood, etc. and there were not much noticeable development after India attained independence from the colonial rule of British. However, the state has relatively become developed as compared to the one that existed 25 years ago.

In last few years, the state has developed noticeably and the government has taken measures for all-round economic development of the state. Several measures have been taken to eradicate the long existing issue of insurgency and with the multi-pronged strategy that the state Government has taken against different militant groups and peace proposals they are sure to combat it soon. Besides resolving the long persisting issues in the state, there have been developments in other fields as well. Education is one of the important aspects of a state and there has been noteworthy development in this field. Several medical colleges across the state have been opened to accommodate more and more aspiring students. Recently, a new technical university has been opened in Guwahati, which is a remarkable achievement in the field of education.

Time has changed and of course with time Assam has also changed from being an under developed state to a developing state. Today, the major cities of the state such as Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Jorhat, etc. have become capable of competing with the other cities of the state. Guwahati has developed remarkably in the last 20 years with all modern-day shopping malls, cineplexes, pubs, dicotheques, etc. It has developed into a metropolitan city and with the advent of modernization; the society has also changed and have become more flexible as compared to the past.

There have been a number of minor as well as major changes in the state and today it is no longer considered as a backward state. Today, the state has developed to a great extent as compared to 20 years back, despite the fact that there are still quite a few important issues that needs to be resolved. Nevertheless, Assam has as well become an important state today and most importantly, Assamese society has changed to a great extent with changing time. People have become quite broad-minded and have accepted the modern-day technologies, which have helped them, lead a better life similar to the people residing in the major and developed states of India.
